Mitrovica Women's Shelter
Investor: UNOPS
Located in the village of Frashër, on the outskirts of Mitrovica, the shelter is a G+0 facility designed for women survivors of physical and psychological violence. The building is planned to provide maximum functionality, privacy and safety for its users, while meeting the design and technical standards required for residential shelter facilities.
The shared spaces are oriented toward the southeast, while the sleeping areas are positioned toward the southwest, ensuring a comfortable and well-organized internal layout. The shelter is intended to accommodate 28 people, including women and children.
Due to its sensitive function, the building is designed with a high level of privacy, allowing residents to carry out daily activities without being exposed to the surrounding neighborhood or visitors. In addition to recreational play areas, the design also includes spaces for different activities, as well as a garden area for growing food or flowers — supporting productivity, emotional recovery and potential personal financial benefits.
